Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is the difference between Nigerian dwarf, Pygmy, and Miniature goat breeds?
Answer: Nigerian Dwarf goats are Miniature dairy goats bred to have the proportional length of body
and the structure of a large dairy goat. The Pygmy goats are pets bred to be heavy boned with short
legs and rounded bodies. Miniature goats are a small version of the large breed goats. All three make
wonderful pets but only the Nigerian dwarf produces dairy milk.

2. How big do the Nigerian Dwarf goats get?
Answer: The does ideal height is 17 to 19 inches at the withers and a bucks ideal height is 19 to 20
inches. Taller animals are generally not competitive in the show ring.

3. Do they make good pets?
Answer: They make wonderful pets for anyone and especially those who are allergic to dogs and cats.
They don't bark, howl at fire trucks or chase cars and best of all there is no odor with does and withers.
Must have at least 2 animals or they aren't happy.
